Better Late than Never—PostaDay Challenge

"Be Kind to your Karma"

It's not everyday that you stumble upon such a profound statement on a bumper sticker on a railing at a gas station. If people took more time to look at their surroundings, I'm pretty sure they'd be amazed at what they'd come across.

I’ve decided to take up the challenge presented by The Daily Post. It’s quite ambitious to say that I plan to blog every day, but I think it’s worth a shot. Worst case scenario, I’ll downgrade to the Post-a-Week challenge instead, but like always, I’m going to dream big.

Being a New Media Journalism major at Seton Hill University, I’ve been *forced* to blog for much of my academic career. Although I began blogging kicking and screaming, I’ve learned that most good entries can be pounded out in a mere 15 minutes, once you have an idea of what you’d like to say.

Did I mention I hate blogging? Okay, okay. Hate is a very strong word, but I’m not going to lie and say that it’s my favorite activity. I love writing, but I still struggle with finding words I’d like to publish for the whole world-wide-web to view should they choose to.

So if I hate blogging so much, why am I going to do this? Why torture myself? I’m doing this, because many times, I  start new projects (like this blog, which only has two entries in the past 8 months or so) and never keep them up. I’ve tried painting–the paint just sits in my room, probably clumping up as I type. I’ve tried various sports—the only one I’ve been mildly successful in is Tang Soo Do, a Korean form of martial arts. I also play golf, but I’d be lying if I said I put forth my biggest effort every time I hit the links.

Then there’s writing. I’ve always had an active imagination. I think I wrote my first book when I was six or seven, entitled the Green Monster. Although I’m creative enough to formulate stories for my sprites in The Sims 3, even their lives grow boring to me eventually, and I lose interest.

My hope for this blog, however, is that I’ll keep myself interested by blogging about something new everyday. With the help of The Daily Post, I think it’s going to work.

Here we go. Wish me luck.

P.S. I’m also going to post at least one photo each day, simply because I love photography 🙂
